Sorry couldn't resist.  Any word yet on why they're heading back?

Huh? I thought they said yesterday that as soon as the MLP is lifted off the supports on the crawler, no matter where it ends up, it will take 7-8 days to re-do all the connections, plumbing, and testing/checkouts to finally begin the count again.

So if she's plugged in tomorrow morning, what would the earliest launch timeframe be from there? ...

Based on earlier comments, and statements in yesterday evenings wx briefing, I thought that once the MLP was unplugged from the pad, the best they could do was eight days from the point they're back on the pad.  If that's true and if the estimate a few posts above is correct (back at the pad around 9pm) ... I would think the earliest chance for a launch attempt would be next Wednesday, 9/6.

Does that sound about right?

I do not know all the details but was that 7 to 8 days including the time they needed to see if Ernesto did any damage, and then they go back to work, we can leave that time out now...
and if the start to work round the clock they should be ready by Tuesday for launch.. I would say...

So, if they're able to get things done quick enough to enable a T-zero by next Wednesday, that would give them a 2-day window, correct?
(assuming the Russians still don't want to do a night time recovery)

I wonder if this will set some kind of record for the longest distance any crawler has driven in one day with a Shuttle stack?

So (no guesses from the uninformed please) how long should it take to get things hooked back up and restart the count after she's back on the pad (assume that's by 7-9pm ish?)
My guess are that they'll have everything plugged in by early Wednesday(EDT). The latest estimate is that it will take 5 hours to return Atlantis to 39B. That puts arrival time around 9 pm EDT.

They started rolling off the pad at 16:15 Central European Time (5 hours ago) If it takes 5 hours to roll back I would say they are back at the pad at 02:15 CET, that is 8 pm Florida time...

Do you have any reasons for that doubt or just a guess?

Trying to figure out who has actual knowledge of the process / operations / etc. and who's just posting to see their name in print is getting tough! Need some sort of designation next to the handles ;>

What is the weather looking like for early next week? Third - seventh?

There will be a briefing at 4 pm EDT to update on what the launch options are now that Atlantis is returning to 39B. Not sure if it will be a telecon like the earlier one.
