Would it work to have a rigid body shell from groin to neck that is adjusted to size before donning the suit.  The shell would allow for breathing expansion and other swellings to occur inside the shell without being restricted by the MCP.  That way one size suit could be worn for a range of body variations.

The problem is the none rigid bits - including elbows, knees and fingers - that need to bend. The armour used by knights was not air tight.

If everything is made rigid then a canister on wheels with manipulator arms becomes the simplest way. The human does not have to bend anything. Similar life support systems to space suits can be used.

Not everything rigid.  Just a hard torso cover worn underneath the MCP suit.

So some sort of hybrid soft/hard suit? Doesn't that eventually devolve into a MCP-esque arm/leg bodysuit with hard seal rings near the thigh's/upper arms to slot into ring holes on hard upper torso/lower torso halves? Not much different from current suits in that you pull on your armor pants to lock the lower seals, stuff your arms/body into the upper torso hard section so the arm rings line up with the shoulder joint seals. When the two hard torso halves join into a pressurized space, the torso section of the bodysuit is in the pressurized zone so is not under strain, so can be made out of something conventional to deal with torso changes.

This doesn't deal with changes to the arms/legs, but it may be easier to manufacturer/alter a MCP limb rather than a complete suit. It also means our martians may be wearing jackets and chaps like cowboys...

I have always liked the idea of a suit that lets you pull your arms back inside to scratch your nose, read a paper.. in fact sort of like a portaloo you can poke your arms and legs out of. Maybe like a suitport thing where the back can accordion out to give you instant space, and then suck back in if the expanded shape is too cumbersome.
