Then again, weren’t Юрчихин and Fischer scheduled to fly the Soyuz MS-05? No change then?
yes with Nespoli before the change in October

Seeing that NASA is looking to have more time in orbit, is it possible that Whitson comes back with soyuz MS04?

So that would be September 3rd at the earliest and November at the latest for landing timeline.

MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/. A Soyuz manned spacecraft scheduled to take off in March with a new expedition to the International Space Station (ISS) will be replaced by another space vehicle over a possible leak in the spacecraft’s descent capsule, a source in the rocket and space industry told TASS.

"Spaceship No. 734 may be replaced by spacecraft No. 735 over a leak in the descent module [of the 734th space vehicle]. This is not yet known for sure. The spacecraft will be returned for a check," the source said.
Meanwhile, Russia’s State Space Corporation Roscosmos has said the spacecraft’s replacement is not related to any technical causes.

Roscosmos announced last week that a Soyuz MS-04 spacecraft scheduled to fly to the International Space Station on March 27 would be replaced by a similar space vehicle but with a different factory number, which was intended to deliver Russian cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin and NASA astronaut Jack Fischer to the world’s sole orbiter. Roscosmos said at the time the spacecraft replacement was not linked to any technical causes.
Meanwhile, a source in the rocket and space industry said the replacement would take place because spacecraft No. 734 had been built with budget funds while space vehicle No. 735 had been made under a contract with NASA.

734 has a SOTR leak which was confirmed ages ago by sources in Baikonur.

I had to look that one up. SOTR is Sistema Obespecheniya Teplovogo Rezhima (Cистема Обеспечения Теплового Режима) which translates to Ensure System Thermal Management.

Thermal Control System, this should use Triol for heat transfer, so it's a radiator fluid leak.

Another thing to learn. What is Triol! According to link below it is a water/glycerol mixture. The name Triol comes from the three hydroxyl (OH) groups.

http://www.spaceref.com/news/viewsr.html?pid=28964

According to Wikipedia, the minimum freezing point of -38 C is achieved with 70% glycerol in water, so that's a good guess of what the Russians are using.

The reboost also readies the station for the arrival of two new crew members who will arrive April 20. Veteran cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin and NASA astronaut Jack Fischer, a first-time space flyer, will take a short four-orbit ride aboard the Soyuz MS-04 spacecraft and dock to Poisk. The new Expedition 51 trio is scheduled to stay in space for 136 days.

NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson will become Expedition 51 commander after Kimbrough and his crew undock. She is staying behind with fellow crewmates Thomas Pesquet from France and Oleg Novitskiy from Russia. They will stay in space until June 2 ending their mission after 195 days when they return home in their Soyuz MS-03 spacecraft.

Soyuz MS-04 will fly with spacecraft № 735 instead of № 734.

Soyuz №735 has a replacement for the KI00-18 gyroscope?

RSC Energia: Soyuz МС-04 being prepared for leak tests

March 17, 2017

RSC Energia and SC Yuzhnyi specialists are preparing a transport manned vehicle of the new modification Soyuz MS-04 for leak tests in the vacuum chamber at Baikonur cosmodrome.

So far, the testing cycle of space hardware in a vacuum chamber using a helium-air medium in tested volumes is the most objective method of leak check in ground conditions, ensuring verification of the specified stringent pressurization integrity requirements.

The launch of Soyuz MS-04 with the crew of the next long-duration expedition to the International Space Station is scheduled for April 20, 2017 from Baikonur cosmodrome.

The unique vacuum complex 17T523M with a volume of 1515 cubic meters was developed based on vacuum chamber 17T523, which was intended for leak tests of large-size compartments and pneumatic/hydraulic systems of Buran orbital vehicles. Due to a new configuration the complex could be used to test large-size space hardware. A number of space products were successfully tested in vacuum chamber 17T523M including Soyuz, Progress spacecraft, core module of the ISS Russian Segment Zvezda, Piers and Poisk modules, Yamal communication satellites and others. As a result of the extensive reconstruction completed in 2016 the obsolete complex instruments and assemblies were replaced by modern ones. Modern vacuum pumps, seals, cooling system elements have been installed, the analogue control unit of the complex has been replaced by an electronic one. The camera body and the cradle structure to load products were subject to refurbishment procedures.

MEDIA ADVISORY M17-035

NASA Astronaut Jack Fischer Available for Interviews Before Space Station Mission

NASA astronaut Jack Fischer, who is making final preparations for an April 20 launch to the International Space Station, will be available for live satellite interviews from 8 to 9 a.m. EDT Tuesday, April 4. The interviews will air live on NASA Television and the agency’s website.

The interviews, from the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia, will be preceded at 7:30 a.m. by a video b-roll feed highlighting his mission training.

To participate in the interviews, media must contact Karen Svetaka at 281-483-8684 or [email protected] no later than 3 p.m. Friday, March 31. Media participating in the interviews must tune to NTV-3. Satellite tuning information is available at:

Fischer, a native of Louisville, Colorado, will depart the next day for final pre-launch training at the launch site in Baikonur, Kazakhstan. He’s scheduled to launch on his first space mission April 20 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on a Soyuz spacecraft with cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin of the Russian space agency Roscosmos. They are scheduled to return to Earth in September.

Their flight plan calls for an arrival at the station six hours after launch. They will join Expedition 51 Commander Peggy Whitson of NASA, cosmonaut Oleg Novitskiy of Roscosmos and ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Thomas Pesquet. The team will continue several hundred experiments in biology, biotechnology, physical science and Earth science currently underway and scheduled to take place aboard humankind's only orbiting lab.

Fischer graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Astronautical Engineering. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1998.

A U.S. Air Force colonel, Fischer was selected for NASA’s 20th astronaut class in July 2009 and completed training in 2011. He has been a Capsule Communicator and worked in the Astronaut Office supporting the ISS Operations, ISS Integration, Soyuz and Exploration teams.
