- the launch of Proton with Intelsat DLA2 has been postponed for several days due to technical problem in Briz-M. The earliest launch date is May 31.

The Proton mission planner’s guide uses the term ‘payload systems mass (PSM)’. The mass of the payload delivered includes the mass of the payload adapter which is typically 150 kg. Oddly the mission overview documents refer to a ‘separated mass’; and have done for many years.

The 20-kilowatt satellite will be used by DIRECTV Latin America for high definition programming throughout Spanish-speaking South American and the Caribbean.

Mission Profile:
The Proton M launch vehicle, utilizing a 5-burn Breeze M Supersynchronous Transfer Orbit (SSTO) mission design, will lift off from Pad 24 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, with the Intelsat 31 satellite on board. The first three stages of the Proton will use a standard ascent profile to place the orbital unit (Breeze M upper stage and the Intelsat 31 satellite) into a sub-orbital trajectory. From this point in the mission, the Breeze M will perform planned mission maneuvers to advance the orbital unit first to a circular parking orbit, then to an intermediate orbit, followed by a transfer orbit, and finally to a supersynchronous transfer orbit. Separation of the Intelsat 31 satellite is scheduled to occur approximately 15 hours, 31 minutes after lift-off.

Rollout!

June 5, 2016 9:49 am (GMT)

 ILS Launch Team

Spectacular sunrise, warm temperatures, slight breeze provided an outstanding start to the day as members of our team along with a multitude of Russian colleagues spanning multiple organizations (it takes a village to launch a rocket) watched in animated anticipation, awe and with a great deal of pride as the Intelsat 31 SC cocooned in the mighty Proton Rocket rolled out from the Breeze-M fueling station at 0630 today bound for Launch Pad 24.

Upon arrival at LP24 the pad team experts sprang into action with their respective tasks to ensure that our ILV went from horizontal to vertical and was ready for upcoming operations; the SSL electrical team performed their required tests with outright synchronicity.

Our team closes out our day with Intelsat 31 standing tall and proud!

93701/99570 Intelsat 31
93702/99571 EchoStar 21
93703/99572 AsiaSat 9

Just noticed this - kind of a weird jump in the Briz-M serial numbers from the previous 99560 to 99570
Block change, or the missing 9 allocated to non ILS launches, or what?
