EUMETSAT confirms Tuesday 17 October as the new launch date for MetOp, Europe's first polar-orbiting satellite. MetOp will lift off at 18:28 CEST (16:28 UTC; 22:28 local time) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan on a Soyuz/ST launcher.

Next: The fully assembled launcher will be rolled out and erected at the launch tower on Saturday 14 October, ready for launch on Tuesday 17 October.

today the first and second stage of soyuz will be mated

Today at the spaceport Baikonur is carried out work according to the graph of the first starting day with the space rocket "Soyuz-2" with the starting block "frigate" and by European meteorological satellite "metope" (MetOp).
In 5.30 msk began the transport of rocket to the launching system. To 6.30 transport was completed and began the installation of carrier rocket to the launcher.

To 8.30 rocket it was established into the starting system and brought service boom.
Now calculations KB of general machine building, QSKB- progress, NPO of im.A.Lavochkina and FKTS "Baikonur" conduct jointings of ground-based and onboard equipment. Checkings of carrier rocket, starting block and automatic spacecraft will begin after the completion of joining operations.

The launch of space rocket "Soyuz-2" with the starting block "frigate" and with European meteorological satellite "metope" (MetOp) are planned to carry out on 17 October 20 it is hour 28 minutes of msk.

Following the roll out to the launch pad and erection at the launch tower at the weekend, MetOp is ready for launch at 18:28 CEST tomorrow from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The launch of Europe's first polar-orbiting weather satellite is set to make a major contribution to global weather forecasting and climate monitoring.

After waiting expectantly through three previous launch attempts, mission controllers at ESOC - ESA's Space Operations Centre - are again looking forward to a demanding launch and early orbit phase when they take control of MetOp after launch on 17 October.

At the spaceport Baikonur continues the work on the preparation of the starting of space rocket "Soyuz-2" with the starting block "frigate" and for European meteorological satellite "metope" (MetOp).
On 16 October on 31-1 area passed works according to the graph of the third starting day today in first half of day on the launching system they are carried out operations on checking of fuelling equipment. The majority of the calculations of spaceport rests to noon on 17 October. Work according to the graph of starting day will begin into 13.00 msk.

In 16.00 msk on 17 October must begin the session of state commission, which, analyzing the motion of launch preparation, must make a decision about conducting of servicing carrier rocket by propellant components. The beginning of servicing is planned to 17.05 msk.

The launch of space rocket "Soyuz-2" with the starting block "frigate" and with European meteorological satellite "metope" (MetOp) are planned to carry out on 17 October 20 it is hour 28 minutes of msk.

7h 10m to launch, and the satellite flight software has been successfully loaded on MetOp. The ESOC team has taken its position in the mission control room. The weather is overcast with light rain, and the forecast for launch is ‘Green.’

The status of MetOp, the launcher and ESOC are ‘Green.’

The launcher team is now in place and the final launcher preparations have started with the installation of the flight hatches in the fairing. The weather is overcast with light rain, and the forecast for launch is ‘Green.’ The status of MetOp, the launcher and ESOC are ‘Green.’
