SpaceX Insurance Rates

Peter de Selding has a very informative article about the insurance rates that SpaceX's commercial customers pay. The lead info is that customers pay for launch plus one year coverage:
* 3-4% for Ariane 5;
* 4-5% for Falcon 9; and
* 12% for Proton.
Lots of other interesting information and discussion in the article. And lots of complaints from ILS that insurers are not counting the CRS and Spacecom incidents when setting Falcon 9 insurance rates. As you can imagine, the $14+ million difference between insurance on Falcon 9 and Proton for a $200 million launch/satellite is causing angst in some quarters.
Will insurance force Russia’s Proton rocket out of the commercial satellite business?
