Great pictures! I was in attendance for Atlantis's rollover to KSCVC last November, I plan on being able to visit Discovery in museum one day.

Discovery is the first one I've seen in person, I plan eventually to see Atlantis and Endeavour for sure. But I'd love to go back to see Discovery again.

Don't forget Enterprise! She needs love too  ;D Awesome pics! It's still sad that this is what she's become.

Thanks for the pics.  We were there a week ago.  That was the closest I'd been to an orbiter, and it was striking to see all the details up close, like tile serial numbers, APU purge port, landing gear brake lines, etc.

Yeah to see her size and gracefulness in person was amazing, and to see her entry scars, etc so close and personal was priceless.

Nice to see her surrounded by people. I've never liked T&R for obvious reasons - and I know I'm a bit weird for that - but who knows if a kid gets taken to see her and then ends up being inspired to become the first astronaut on Mars.

That's where it's worth it all.

That's a good thought, Chris.

And brettreds2K - thanks for sharing these latest pictures of my "favorite" orbiter.

Indeed. "These ladies" have inspired us most when they were flying. But that's all part of our memories now. Let's keep those memories alive!

Very true and touching. It's still leaves a sore spot that that's the only way they can be seen flying.. In our memories.

I love your photos of Discovery; she's my favourite Orbiter too!

I'm another one who wishes Discovery and her sisters were still flying, and though this may sound strange, I feel sorry for Disco whenever I see pictures of her in the museum, but I know she's being really well looked after, and I wish I could visit her myself.

Just an FYI, there's a very large dump of pictures and videos of this Discovery display in Udvar Hazy in L2.

I'm new here, but wanted to share one of my own pics of me and Discovery.  (I have a ton of pics from the flyover as well.)  I live 2 hours north so I get the opportunity to visit often.  I remember watching her launch on the return to flight mission after Challenger when I was in second grade.  From then on I was hooked on all things space.  I had the opportunity to see her launch in person on STS 121 on July 4, 2006 from about 10 miles north of the pad.

Not a bad idea in years to come to have meets where the orbiters are...although I think Atlantis at KSC is a clear fav for my "to do" list.

And welcome to the site's forum, Tim. Nice photo sir.
