I did lots of painting work on the 747 and gluing on Enterprise today.  Here's a pic of the 747 after I masked off the polished aluminum and sprayed Tamiya Bare Metal Silver to cover the leading edges.  (I also painted the rest of the bird to seal the tape edges before painting Tamiya gray primer and later Aircraft Gray.  Now my fuselage painting is done and tomorrow I'll work on the wings.).

And the Enterprise got a lot of work done on her too.

I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

Wow, your masking and painting is looking really great.   The amount of work you're putting into this is amazing.

Thanks roma847!  and I just started masking and painting the orbiter.  Long way to go but it's getting its white primer.

Here's my Enterprise after I masked it.  It's now getting flat black on its belly.

And here's the painted and unmasked Enterprise along with the 747.  I'll be going to Arizona for a week shortly so further progress will happen when I get back (4/20).  My Draw Decals came in and look great.

I'm back from Arizona and today I put on the decals for the 747 and the shuttle.  This week I hope to finish the project.

Hi,
great shots of your SCA 747 with the Enterprise, but one thing I noticed on your 747. The blue-white-red decal stripes on the bow lace something looks wrinkled, or is that deceptive?   :-\ Have you used no decal softener?

Yes, there are wrinkles on the nose.  I tried using Micro Sol on them but it didn't quite work out.  I'm trying to figure out a solution.  May need to scrape the decals off and try painting on the colors.  We'll see.

I did some sanding on the wrinkled nose decal and a touch up with red, white, and blue paints.  Not 100% perfect but the nose does look better.
