From Chris' article on the event:

"Skvortsov then took samples of Zvezda window number 2 to determine the condition of the porthole."

Can someone please clarify how a sample can be taken off a window?

They used swabs - the windows are relatively close to Zvezda's thrusters and can collect amounts of unburned propellant/oxidizer. They are checking for signs of corrosion due to that (or other factors, such as LEO atomic oxygen), or microbial activity that somehow got out of the interior and affects the exterior...

In this article about the spacewalk there is a screengrab where you can see the swab used (look for "window" once you're at the linked website to reach the part of the article where they talk about this): http://www.spaceflight101.com/iss-expedition-40-russian-eva-38-updates.html

These photos, posted by Surayev on Twitter, show that Artemyev indeed used Orlan MK#4 and Skvortsov MK#5.

Oleg Artemyev shares his impressions of his first spacewalk:

"This is an unforgettable experience and the most spectacular event that I experienced during this flight. This is what I dreamed of, after I joined the S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia in 1997, it was a dream of an engineer. I am very happy to get closer to what I have been dreaming of over 14 years. And once again the three important facts of a successful exit - is mutual help, double insurance and serviceability of a spacesuit hardware-tool."
