Art Dula and the team at Excalibur Almaz have a new Facebook page. Quoting here from the "info" page...

"Commercial space exploration is a massive and complex undertaking that can not be achieved without your support. To engage your imagination and truly make you feel a part of this journey, we are opening our doors like no other spaceflight company has ever done before. Through interactive public forums, educational programs and our social media networks, we will give you direct access to the people, technology and equipment that will usher in a new age of space exploration.

Join us as we blast into orbit at 17,000mph reaching farther into space than any other spaceflight company has before. Help us build excitement and countdown to our first launch by sharing your thoughts, videos, music, questions and comments. Be part of the next great achievement in human spaceflight - Explore, engage, inspire!"

That's pretty straight-forward, and VERY exciting!!! Here's the link:

Is Dave Liniger / REMAX one of the sponsors of Excalibur Almaz? It's interesting that in their facebook photos they have one of his spacesuit - presumably from his near-space balloon attempt.

It appears that these guys are investing in the Sea Launch ships, with Art Dula's address referenced in the bankruptcy filings and as posted by McDew here: http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=17586.msg501977#msg501977

Does this mean that they're going to launch these capsules on a Zenit or refurb the platform for another vehicle?

It seems that the DIP financing from Space Launch Services LLC (a company related to Excalibur Almaz) to Sea Launch has now been replaced by DIP financing from Energia Overseas Limited.

P.S. For an older article on the implication of Excalibur Almaz in the DIP financing of Sea Launch, see here:

An EA intern has recently posted a bit of info about his work:

Quote from: http://excaliburalmazobserver.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
My group’s primary project was to create a CAD (computer-aided design) model of the Almaz capsule, and then outfit a mock-up of the capsule (a constructed replica of the spacecraft) with models of the equipment that would be used during spaceflight. This allowed us to get a sense of how much space was available, and how items and equipment might be arranged inside the spacecraft.

Similar bit of info at http://eanewsletter.blogspot.com/2010/10/meet-ea-intern-shai-bernstein.html.

There has always been confusion regarding Art Dula's use of the term "Almaz" to cover both the space station modules and the landing vehicle that his company is currently marketing.

In this case, it appears that two of the remaining Salyut-class base modules in storage at NPO Mash have been shipped to the Island of Man for some reason.

BBC have a little more, with picture of a Salyut being craned.

It's not confusing at all. The Almaz Orbital Complex consisted of the Almaz Orbital Piloted Station, the Transport Supply Ship, the Reusable Return Capsule, and the Special Information Capsules. All of these are Almaz. What Art is updating now are the Almaz RRVs.

The two stations (which I think should be referred to as Almaz class, since Almaz came first and Salyut was based on the Almaz) are going into storage until they can be updated. One of these stations is quite interesting. The front of it is unlike any other Almaz station (embedded with four spherical tanks, and two nozzles - one facing port and the other starboard). The interior is complete except for some electronics. The cooling systems and wiring harnesses are installed. The back of the station is identical to the Almaz unmanned stations.

I'm not sure about the identity of the other station. It's appears to be a stripped down hull.

Any chance of photos? I am curious about this odd-man out.
chuck - Toilet paper has no real value? Try living with 5 other adults for 6 months in a can with no toilet paper. Man oh man. Toilet paper would be worth it's weight in gold!

I really wish I could post these. They were given to me by Art Dula with the notice that they were for my eyes only.

I think I can get away with posting a simplified drawing. But, let me ask Art first.

The story here: http://rt.com/news/blogs/week-technology/countdown-liftoff-march-21/

"As of now they have a 2013 target for the first unpiloted RRV launch, followed by manned flight the following year."

That would place the first manned launch of the RRV during the year of Chelomei's 100th anniversary!!!
