"It is easy to think that astronauts just wake up one day, throw on a space suit, climb into the nearest rocket and launch off into space".  Cady Coleman

I have started this thread because Cady Coleman is writing a blog titled "Counting Down Cady" on CNN, to provide us an insight view of the training for a spaceflight.
The link is:  http://amfix.blogs.cnn.com/category/counting-down-cady/
And this is the feed if you use a RSS reader: http://amfix.blogs.cnn.com/category/counting-down-cady/feed/

Here's a preview of the Expedition 27 patch, seen on Ron Garan's shirt in this photo he sent via his Twitter account.
Even though the image quality isn't great, I can already say that I like this patch! :D

So, will Kondratyev finally smile when he reaches the ISS? It seems that
3 backup assignments have left a frown on his face in all pictures (:))

I think Kondratyev's smile definitely rivals Malenchenko's! ;D

Crew EVA Training in Hydrolab (photos).

GCTC’s hydrolab hosted two Roscosmos cosmonauts last week.
Sergey Volkov and Andrey Borisenko rehearsed an extravehicular activity with a full-scale training model of the International Space Station in the Hydrolab facility at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia.
Borisenko is scheduled for his first space mission as ISS 27/28 flight engineer in March 2011. Volkov is supposed to fly to the ISS in May, 2011.

I attended in Houston (with Mark Carreau and Robert Pearlman) and did the one-on-ones too. I was very impressed with the crewmen and will report more details as I get organized.
