Martin FL - 13/10/2006 9:46 PMThe most involving video for a Shuttle fan.
MKremer - 13/10/2006 6:07 PMThey chat about the g increases (and adapting) quite a bit throughout the video. One thing I was waiting for, but was never asked or mentioned was how 'heavy' the camera was beginning to get.

rsp1202 - 16/10/2006 6:51 PMDoes anyone know what company supplies NASA with the countdown timers the crew has scattered throughout the flight deck during a mission? They're inexpensive egg timers.
Jamie Young - 17/10/2006 3:40 PMJust sat through the full length video on L2. It's better than any movie I've watched. Visually stunning, but I love the talking between Fergie and Jett. What strikes out to me is Jett is commander, but he doesn't 'need' to order anyone around. Real team effort and a I don't know if it's a way of coping with nerves or just how professional they are, but the joking and laughter at times, times where it could go wrong like it did on STS-107, is really interesting. Can't wait for the launch version of this video!!!
Chris Bergin - 18/10/2006 7:29 PMMoved to General, ahead of doing something similar with the ascent video when we get hold of it.
Bruce H - 1/11/2006 10:36 AMOnly just seen this, a great insight into what its like to be on board during the ride home.
Seattle Dave - 22/11/2006 1:31 AMWill there be a chance this will become acquired for STS-116 too?
Carl G - 2/1/2007 11:43 PMI've seen it on L2 and hands down it's THE best space flight video ever, and amazing PR for sure, but L2 is even better. You get a real respect for the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes at NASA, especially people like Wayne Hale, who must be some sort of machine
Jamie Young - 1/2/2007 9:09 PMMy thoughts are with Columbia more so after watching this successful re-entry.
Launch Fan - 1/5/2007 12:50 PMThe 115 video is brilliant. Although I'm was kinda hoping one of the future flights which have a camcorder on board will point the camera out of the back windows of the flight deck, so that we might get to see the OMS fire up.

Rob in KC - 13/7/2007 5:12 AMI don't know if Chris wants to do another trailer, but one of the new re-entry camcorder videos on L2 is even more eventful than this one, with sparks flying past the windows and some great crew chatter.

Paul Howard - 14/7/2007 12:23 AMI really want to join L2, but I have a question on the videos. Are they in some sort of player box like on a lot of sites now. I hate that as it's buffering and shaky unless you have an amazing connection, or can you actually download them to your hard drive? Please tell me they aren't quicktime too?

Launch Fan - 14/7/2007 2:41 PMI did that too Andrew. I had the STS-115 reentry video running on the big TV all synced up from deorbit burn. Really made it all more real.I even went a stage further, with the launch from MCC of the nearly went bad STS-93 video from L2, from T-31 to ET sep, during the actual launch, but I am a big space flight junkie There's a trailer for that too (added here now)
Orbiter Obvious - 16/7/2007 6:32 PMWill re-entry by very different with Orion?

Tlegs - 14/8/2007 1:32 PMSo where do I go to actually get this 355 Mwg video? I'm a new member of L2 and just trying to figure out how this L2 works.

STSFan10 - 10/10/2007 3:36 PMSo cool...but after the Soyuz launch today, I was wondering if anyone has recorded re-entry on that vehicle?
ShuttleFan75 - 31/10/2007 11:39 AMOh my goodness, this is amazing. Talk about joining the site late!

mtakala24 - 11/10/2007 1:53 PMI think it would be dangerous to try to capture Soyuz re-entry with a handheld camera - it would get thrown around at parachute opening, and if it wasn't 100% secured to a fixture or stowage area at landing, it could kill at touchdown. Also, the state of Soyuz windows is unknown - do they get smudged?
rsp1202 - 10/11/2007 6:48 PMAl Bean got conked by a stowed camera upon landing, Apollo 12. That man had camera issues.
Launch Fan - 10/11/2007 5:45 PMI've been thinking about that too. The superb re-entry video for Gemini and Apollo now on the new L2 Historical section show it's a fixed camera, but the views out of the window are still stunning.
NASA_Twix_JSC - 17/11/2007 6:22 PMSTS-120's video coming soon I'm informed.
British NASA - 18/11/2007 1:20 PMWithout being too cheeky, but could you put a trailer up for the Apollo or Gemini re-entry videos?

SimonShuttle - 4/12/2007 10:14 AMWow, anyone noticed the first post, not the download link to the trailer, but the later addition of the deborbit burn?"Deorbit115.wmv (8817KB - 27761 downloads)"Over 27,000 downloads!

And same question for this video! Please tell me I did not come here too late.Thank you for the short clip anyway, VERY COOL!!
Dudes, somehow i can't dl the file attached to Post #1..It's announced as 8.6MB file, Firefox downlooads until 188MB and then stops. Can someone check this?ty,mephisto
OK, that works now - it was Firedownloaders fault.http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/content/?cid=4865 throws a 404 error anyways..I think that leads to the full 355mb video?thanksmephsito
Nah. That'd be the article that went together with this thread.http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/2006/10/riding-onboard-atlantis-during-re-entry/That's the current link for it.The full 355mb video is on NASASpaceFlight L2's Ultimate Video section. It's well worth the $20 alone for a month of L2, once you get hooked, you won't want to stop.
I am a L2 newbie, having a real hard time finding the full length STS 115 deorbit burn video. Could someone point me to the actual 2 hour file? Thanks!
So very cool! Why didn't they show this view live during re-entrys on NASA TV?
